Dear Sister
I now sit down to write you a few lines to let you know that father has gone to his long prayed for home. He passed away on March the eleventh on Sunday evening at half-past ten. He has been poorly since four months but we did not think at first that it was serious but we soon found out that he would not remain long with us. He took a bad

turn, he used to take bad turns all along, but he took one just nine days before he died. He was nothing but the frame. He coughed all the time, the Doctor said he had Bronchitis, but mama says she thinks he had a kind of consumption. His left lung was all gone. Dear sister we find it very lonesome now but it is no use to fret for him, he has been a silent sufferer since I can remember. He has gone to be with his heavenly father where he will have no pain or sorrow he used to pray for Jesus

to come quickly and take him away. We buried him yesterday at Homeville, we had it pretty nasty the roads were so bad. The mud and snow mixed together was up to the axle of the Buggy. Well Esther we have it pretty fine down here the Drift ice is in now that does not make it any warmer. I suppose the times are not any better out there. Write soon and let me know how you all are. It is some time since I heard from you. Give my love to all and a share for your self. Katie and mother joins their love also.
